5 Ways to Enhance your Home by Bringing Summer In

As a designer, Ann Ueno is always thinking of and creating ways to bring the outside in which can add so much depth and life into a home. The season of summer offers so many ways to do this! The spectrum of hues from a sunset. The lush plants. The bright energy and bold patterns from the fashion industry. The beach, of course. Flowers from the garden. Longer days call for a new perspective in our homes. Thereā€™s no better way to mark the season than to bring summer into our homes. Check out these 5 ways you can do that in your home!

1. Art

Swap out art in secondary spaces like a powder bath or a hallway, featuring visuals that represent summer.Ā From surf and swim to beaches and oceans, whatever brings your a memory from your childhood or a place that inspires you, USE IT! Etsy, Minted and Grey Malin are a few places to source art with varying price points.Ā

2. Plants

Add a few potted and/or floor plants to your coffee tables, bedrooms, kitchen counters or nightstands. Here you are literally bringing the outside in and nothing says summer like some lush green plants. Bring some life into your home!

3. Palms

Be literal with tropical vibes! Nothing says summer in Florida like palm trees and tropical leaves. You can incorporate this easily by replacing pillows and other textiles in your home. If you really want to go all out, consider adding palm inspired wallpaper for an all-year-round summer vibe.Ā

4. White

The whole “white after labor day” can apply to your home too! Consider a fresh new coat of white paint, new white lightweight bedding or white window treatments. You can never go wrong with white and there are a million ways to incorporate it in your home for the season.Ā

5. Style with Summer

Try adding decor pieces that inspire summer! Whether than be fruits and vegetables (think lemons, pineapples and artichokes) or putting out your favorite glassware and pitchers, so you are always ready for a summertime gathering, these little details make all the difference!
